Finnair has launched a new range of business class amenity kits, featuring Marimekko designs and a sustainable initiatives as part of the carrier’s aims to reduce plastic waste by almost 4,500 kg per year.
The kits feature skin care products by Swedish brand L:A Bruket, including an almond-coconut lip cream and a chamomile-lavender facial hydrator. The company is also providing products in Finnair’s business class onboard toilets, as well as in the carrier’s airport lounges.
Eo-friendly initiatives include an outer cardboard band instead of a plastic wrap, toothbrushes made of bio-plastic containing cornstarch, and earplugs wrapped in wax paper. New business class slippers are also now made of recycled plastic bottle, as part of Finnair’s aims to reduce plastic waste.
Finnair says that the eye shades have been upgraded with “soft-touch fabric and higher-quality straps”, while earplugs are now “more effective”.
The bags come in four Maija Isola designs – Rautasänky, Joonas, Jenkka and Pieni Melooni – each in two colourways, with two designs being introduced at a time, and rotated every six months.
The new bags will be rolled out onto all transcontinental services operated by A330 and A350 aircraft, and have been designed to complement in-cabin seat covers, pillows and blankets which were launched last year.
Commenting on the news David Kondo, Head of Cabin Interior Development at Finnair, said:
“Finnair and L:A Bruket are both Nordic brands that value sustainability. We view this partnership as a great initiative to increase the appeal of our amenity kit.
We’re also trying to connect the lounge and in-flight experience more and more for our customers, and offering organic and natural L:A Bruket products both on the ground and in the air is a great step in that direction.”
