Air India Express, the subsidiary of Air India, has introduced flights connecting Kannur, Kerala with Abu Dhabi.
The inaugural flight arrived at the Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) on December 9, 2018, at 12:30 pm, thereby coinciding with the grand opening of the Kannur International Airport (CNN).
The Kannur-Abu Dhabi route will be operated three weekly non-stop flights —Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.

Umadevi, Airport Manager, Air India Express, said, “This new destination will attract the traffic not only from the northern side of Kerala but also from the neighboring states of Karnataka as the airport is located at the northern part of the state and have easy access to Mysore and other states of Karnataka. Abu Dhabi Airports have provided us all support as always to ensure our customers satisfaction and meet the rising demand in the Abu Dhabi market.”
Additionally, GoAir has also commenced flights operations from Kannur, connecting it with Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai.
Meanwhile, IndiGo and SpiceJet are waiting for approval to start operations from the newly launched Kannur International Airport.
