Taiwanese carrier Eva Air has launched a new in-flight safety video, featuring a choreographed dance sequence alongside 3D projections and motion-capture technology to demonstrate safety procedures.

The video is arguably one of the most artistically inclined in-flight safety videos created by an airline. Directed by Taiwanese director Robin Lee, the video includes choreography developed by Bulareyaung Pagarlava, a member of the island’s indigenous Paiwan community, combined with projections on the walls to create a perspective-altering performance.

While the safety protocols that the video demonstrates are not always immediately clear from the performance, the background music and visually impressive sequences certainly make for an interesting viewing – a positive for a safety video, which are likely to often be ignored by seasoned travellers.

A number of airlines have been developing especially creative in-flight safety videos as a way to make them more engaging for passengers.
