Background
The Vida at Emirates Hills is the 5th property of the Vida Hotels, an upscale lifestyle hotel brand from Emaar Hospitality Group. The hotel is situated in the tranquil, upmarket Emirates Hills area at a walking distance from two of Dubai’s major golf courses: Emirates Golf Club and Address Montgomerie. The hotel is located within Vida’s apartment complex and offers a serene view of both the golf courses.
What’s it like?
As soon as we walk into the lobby, we were quite impressed with the modern contemporary architecture and design that gives out a sense of space that is truly enjoyable with light streaming in from all corners during the day and the whole place being lit up by chandeliers during the evening.
For the business traveller, the Vida Emirates Hills offers ten meeting rooms with comfortable sofas and intriguing chandeliers hanging overhead. There is ample natural light streaming in through the windows along with the latest AV equipment.
Where is it?
The best way to cover the 30 odd kilometres from the Dubai airport is by a cab which takes approximately 20 to 25 minutes in the night, add another 10 minutes during the day time. The hotel is also connected to the nearby metro station which is about a 10-minute walk away. The hotel is connected to the nearby Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and the Dubai Design District.
Rooms
The hotel has 157 rooms, many of them overlooking the Golf courses. The executive suite is full of contemporary design elements with white and brown being the dominant colours. There is a sofa overlooking the Apple TV in the drawing-room along with a table overlooking a view of the pool to get your work done along with a Nespresso machine. The bedroom has another one of the Apple TVs where you can log into your Netflix along with hand-shaped remote holders. Our corner suite looks over the hotel pool on one side and the golf courses beyond that. On the other side, the night sky of Dubai shines bright.
Restaurants and Bars
We totally fell in love with the greenery that surrounds the main restaurant, Origins. With light flowing in through the large windows, the colour contrasts on this restaurant are simply amazing. With a lovely breakfast spread that features continental and Middle-Eastern fare including a variety of bread, Mezze platters, and bottles of freshly squeezed juice including a Green Apple one that you can try out.
Stage 2 offers an afternoon tea with a twist at the lobby lounge while Junipers, the bar offers Juniper based drinks in a classic setting consisting of lounge chairs, marble top tables and an old-style library.
Meetings
Vida offers a beautiful view of the city and the golf courses from the infinity pool where you can relax after sundown, all the while tracking down to the bar to get a few cocktails for yourself. The 24 hour fitness centre is fully stocked and there are also quite a few retail shops in the hotel where you can finish up on all your shopping needs. The hotel also offers complimentary cycles to explore the neighbourhood.
Verdict
Vida at The Emirates Hills, Dubai is a new chic, contemporary hotel that is perfect for business travellers and offers a mouth-watering view of Dubai.
