17 May 2016 by Clement Huang
Virgin Australia has launched its new international business class product, with the first seats having been fitted onto one of its B777-300ER aircraft. The new product is currently available on the airline’s flights from Australia to Los Angeles, with Abu Dhabi to follow soon. Business class cabin The business class cabin features 37 reverse herringbone seats, which are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, thereby guaranteeing direct aisle access to all passengers. Close-up of seat Notable seat features include a side console area, which provides plenty of workspace, as well as an 18-inch HD in-flight entertainment screen that Virgin bills as the largest on any aircraft flying between Australia and North America. Special bedding is also offered, which consists of triple-layer seat cushions, memory foam mattress toppers and high-grade cotton pillows. Bedding The hard product is complemented by improved service standards. Passengers will be able to choose from new menus designed by Australian chef Luke Mangan. In addition, a cocktail and canapé service has been introduced, with Bellini, Kir Royal or Mimosas served prior to the first meal, alongside a Luke Mangan-designed canapé plate. Bar and lounge area The B777-300ER also comes with an onboard bar and lounge area, which will be opened after the first meal service. This area will be hosted by the cabin crew, and offer a selection of snacks and drinks. Furthermore, guests can choose to have a continental breakfast at the bar prior to the full breakfast service. Virgin Australia Group chief executive John Borghetti said: “Virgin Australia is committed to product innovation and delivering a superior customer journey on the ground and in the air. “With competition increasing from Australia to North America and the Middle East, we believe this will be the best business class on the Pacific, with the product also being introduced to Abu Dhabi later this year.
