Wanda Reign Chengdu opens for business

21 Dec 2015 by Clement Huang

Chinese luxury hotel group Wanda Hotels & Resorts has celebrated the opening of a new Wanda Reign property in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province.

This is the group’s second Wanda Reign hotel, after Wanda Reign Wuhan, and the brand’s first property in China’s southwest region. (Wanda-branded hotels fall into four categories – Wanda Reign, Wanda Vista, Wanda Realm and Wanda Jin – with the "Reign" class representing the top end of the group's five-star spectrum.)

Wanda Reign Chengdu is located in the city’s CBD where South Renmin Road meets Jinjiang River – historically the starting point for important trade routes to the Tibetan Plateau and beyond to India. Views from the hotel’s Sky Lobby on the 41st floor take in many of the city’s landmarks, including Tianfu Square in the north and Jinjiang River in the south.

There are 240 guestrooms and suites, each of which combines an opulent Chinese-style interior with modern facilities. The brand’s signature “Bed of Reign”, featuring US-made Talalay latex mattresses and New Zealand wool bedding, is available in every room. Other room amenities include professional massage chairs, interactive TV, an iPad room control system, smart lighting and complimentary 1,000MB wifi service. Guests staying on the executive floor will also be offered personal care amenities from Hermès, as well as the usual spread of club benefits.

The hotel’s F&B options offer guests a wide range of culinary choices. “ZHEN” Chinese restaurant, on the fifth floor, serves refined Cantonese and local Sichuan cuisine, while the all-day dining outlet Café Reign is located on the 41st floor, making it the highest restaurant in Chengdu. Also on the top floor is the Lobby Lounge which offers a Western-style silver chocolate afternoon tea set, as well as premium local Shu wine.

Recreational facilities include the SHUI Spa, which features three private treatment suites named Wind, Cloud and Rain. Guests can choose from a range of Southeast Asian treatments designed to release tension. There are also sauna and steam rooms, a Jacuzzi, massage rooms and a card room. The Universe KTV also offers five first-class rooms, each equipped with its own control system, professional-grade audio equipment and private dance floor.

Finally, the Galaxy Bar on the seventh floor features a private elevator, reception hall and networking lounge, making it suitable for small corporate events or private parties. Also available is a 1,150 sqm pillarless grand ballroom and six private function rooms on the third floor.

“It is with great pride that we bring the premium Wanda Reign label to Chengdu, a city steeped in history and culture, to present our most discerning domestic and international guests with the finest hospitality experience and revitalise the local hospitality industry,” said Wanda Reign Chengdu general manager Roger Marcz.
