Qatar Airways has added a link that connects a number of its weekly flights between Doha and Johannesburg onwards towards Durban.

Durban, the country’s third largest city, is well known for its beautiful beaches and warm seas. The city enjoys over 300 days of sunshine every year, making it an attractive hotspot for surfing and other outdoor activities.

Flight QR1367 departs every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 0745 and arrives in Johannesburg at 1520. Following a brief layover, the flight takes off from Johannesburg at 1620 and travels onwards to Durban, where it lands at 1735.

The return service on flight QR1386 departs Durban at 1845 and arrives in Johannesburg at 2000. It then takes off again an hour later at 2100 before touching back down in Doha at 0620 the following day.

Flights are served by the B787-8, which has been configured with a two-class configuration comprising 22 seats in business and 232 in economy. For a seatplan, see here.

“Qatar is one of South Africa’s largest trading partners in the Middle East and we are proud to strengthen this business relationship with the launch of our new route connecting Durban to Doha,” said Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways group chief executive.

“With its excellent aviation infrastructure and the development of the Dube TradePort, we expect the number of business and employment opportunities in Durban to increase.”

The launch of the four-times-weekly service complements Qatar Airways’ daily flights to Cape Town and double daily operations to Johannesburg. Travellers can now choose from a total of 21 weekly flight frequencies to South Africa.
