HK Express announces new route to Seoul

27 Jan 2014 by Clement Huang

Newly launched low-cost carrier Hong Kong Express (HK Express) has unveiled new developments planned for 2014, including a brand new logo and livery as well as a new destination, Seoul.

Redesigned logo

Since launching last September (see here), HK Express has flown 220,000 customers across its 12-destination network, with Japanese cities Tokyo and Osaka being the most popular destinations. The plan in 2014 is to expand the carrier’s network to over 20 cities in Asia.

In order to facilitate this growth, the LCC will be expanding its fleet of Airbus A320 narrow-body aircraft from five to 11 this year, and recruiting a further 250 cabin staff and other key operational crew.

Seoul is the first new destination announced for 2014, and the carrier will be operating a single daily service between Hong Kong and Seoul Incheon International Airport from March 30. Flight times have not been finalised yet.

New livery

A new logo and livery design was also introduced, both of which incorporate elements of Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour. The ‘H’ and ‘K’ of HK Express has been graphically reinterpreted on to the front and tail of the plane, in purple and red.

The new branding elements will be introduced in late March once the carrier celebrates the arrival of its first new A320 aircraft to Hong Kong.
