JAL to switch London-Tokyo flights to Haneda

27 Jan 2014 by BusinessTraveller

Japan Airlines has confirmed it will switch its London to Tokyo services from Narita to Haneda airport from March 30.

The move is part of a raft of frequency and fleet changes, which will also see new services from Paris, Singapore, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City to Haneda, and an increase in flight frequencies between New York and Tokyo Narita (from seven to 14 weekly services).

The new Heathrow to Haneda route will see flights depart London at 1915, arriving into Haneda at 1500 the following day, with the return leg leaving Tokyo at 1120 and landing in London at 1550. The route will be served with B777-300ER aircraft.

JAL will continue to offer flights between Heathrow and Narita via its codeshare with joint venture partner and fellow Oneworld member British Airways.

BA also flies between Heathrow and Haneda – it currently offers a five times-weekly service, with plans to increase this to six flights per week from March 31, and daily from May 1 (click here for more information).

Haneda airport is viewed by many as a more convenient airport for those travelling to and from Tokyo, being located around nine miles from the city centre, compared to Narita’s 36 miles.
