Skyteam launches “Go Round the World” pass

27 Jan 2014 by Clement Huang
Skyteam has launched an online booking tool for customers that wish to purchase a “Go Round the World” pass with any of its 19 member airlines. Available on the alliance’s website, the new offering allows customers to access a network of 1,024 destinations worldwide and purchase cost-effective fares. Interested parties can use the Skyteam Round the World booking tool to plan a tailor-made itinerary that features a minimum of three to a maximum of 15 stops worldwide. There are four fare levels, ranging from 26,000 (three stops) to 38,000 (15 stops) miles. The price also differs slightly according to destination, and is automatically calculated by the tool upon itinerary creation. Customers will be able to fly on all carriers under Skyteam, which allows for flexibility in flight scheduling. There are however some restrictions. Customers can only travel in one direction (east or west), and have to go around the globe before returning to their country of origin. Skyteam has split the globe into three areas (Americas & Caribbean; Europe, Middle East and Africa; and Asia, Far East and Oceania), and all customers have to fly across each area. There is also no backtracking allowed, so passengers that have passed area two onto area three may not fly back to area two again, unless it is the country of origin. In related news, fellow airline alliance Oneworld also offers round-the-world bookings via its official website (see here). For more information, visit www.skyteam.com Clement Huang
