Qatar confirms B787 London launch date

27 Nov 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Qatar Airways has confirmed it will launch Dreamliner flights between Doha and London Heathrow from December 13.

The B787 aircraft will operate on flight QR075 departing Doha at 0625, landing into Heathrow  at 1105, with the return leg QR076 leaving London at 1505 and arriving back into Doha at 0045 the following day.

The carrier took delivery of its first Dreamliner earlier this month, featuring a brand new fully-flat business class product – for a review of the seat on the delivery flight between Seattle and Doha, click here.

This aircraft – along with a second B787 delivered this weekend - have been operating on four daily rotations between Doha and Dubai (see online news November 20), but will be rostered onto the key London route from mid-December.

The launch of aircraft on the route has been discussed in detail on our forum, with one eagle-eyed poster discovering that - in early next year at least - Qatar Airways will be charging more for travel in its new business class seat when compared with the older business class product on its B777 and A340 aircraft.

Qatar Airways has a total of 60 Dreamliners on order, with delivered aircraft featuring wifi internet access, touchscreen Android IFE systems, and a two-class configuration with a 1-2-1 layout in business and 3-3-3 in economy.
