As reported last year (see online news April 19, 2011), German budget hotel chain Motel One will open its first UK property this December, and has confirmed plans for a flagship London hotel in 2014.
The 208-room Motel One Edinburgh-Royal hotel is located on Market Street in the Castlehill area, near to Waverley railway station and the Royal Mile.
It forms part of a 140,000 square foot mixed-use site, which also hosts offices, restaurants and residential spaces.
Commenting on the launch, CEO of Motel One Group Dieter Muller promised a “young and stylish product” and highlighted the “affordable prices and high quality design and service”.
All rooms will feature flatscreen TVs, ensuite bathrooms and air-conditioning, and free wifi will be available in the One Lounge, a combined lobby, bar and cafeteria.
A self-proclaimed “budget-design” hotel chain, Motel One Edinburgh-Royal will offer rooms starting at £69.
The chain is also set to open two further properties in Cologne and Salzburg before the end of the year.
