Accor’s Novotel brand has opened its second property in Auckland, a 263-room hotel located close to the city’s international airport terminal.
The NZ$65 million hotel is situated 50 metres from the terminal building, and features a lobby with a “living wall” of indigenous plants, and triangular architectural features designed to reflect the bows of traditional Maori ‘waka’ canoes.
Facilities include 12 meetings rooms capable of accommodating up to 315 delegates, an all-day dining restaurant with Novotel’s signature TV dining pods for solo diners, and a in-Balance fitness centre.
Novotel Auckland Airport also features the brand’s latest room concept, with bathrooms separated from the room by a glass partition which can be covered by a privacy screen, designed “to give a maximum impression of spaciousness and freedom of movement”.
This new-generation room concept was unveiled in Asia-Pacific earlier this year with the opening of the Novotel Bangkok Felix Ploenchit (see online news February 22). Accor says that it eventually be able to offer room access via mobile phone, making it the first hotel in New Zealand to offer this service.
The hotel is offering a 25 per cent discount on fully flexible rates until the end of August – for more information visit novotel.com.
