Air China has launched an integrated booking system offering tickets for domestic flights combined with shuttle bus services to peripheral secondary cities.
The service, which is the first of its kind amongst Chinese carriers, will allow passengers to book tickets online or via the sales hotline to large airport hubs alongside shuttle bus tickets connecting them to outlying cities thus expanding the carrier’s network. The shuttle buses will be labelled with the flight’s number.
The first combined airline and shuttle bus ticket will enable passengers flying to Beijing to connect seamlessly by bus to Tianjin. The shuttle bus numbers would be CA9001 and CA9003. Eventually, the carrier will offer the same services in Shanghai and Chengdu.
This service will soon meet the much needed demand for online train or bus tickets to outlying cities. Currently, passengers cannot book train tickets online and must do so either via phone or at the station.
