Garuda Indonesia uses B737-800 on KL-Jakarta route

24 Dec 2010

Garuda Indonesia is to introduce a Boeing B737-800 on services between Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta from January 15, 2011, increasing passenger capacity by 40 percent.

The dual-class aircraft features a total of 156 seats – 12 executive class seats and 144 economy class seats – as well as an upgraded touch screen TV with Video on Demand (VOD).

“We decided to deploy the new aircraft on this route because of the steady increase in demand experienced from our customers. Garuda Indonesia’s flights from Kuala Lumpur to Jakarta are popular with the business and golfing community,” said Erwin Suharja, the airline's general manager for Malaysia.

Due to the large number of golfers this route, those with golf bags are entitled to an additional 15kg of baggage allowance. Executive class passengers can also streamline their immigration procedures at Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta airports with "premium" dedicated immigration lanes.

To mark the introduction of the new aircraft, Garuda Indonesia is offering special rates from US$35 for tickets booked through travel agents or directly with the airline. The offer runs until January 10 for travel on January 15, 2011 and does not apply to tickets booked online.
