Russian carrier, Aeroflot, will roll out in-flight mobile services from Christmas Eve onwards, allowing passengers to use the services for free until January 31.
The services – provided by Megafon - will first be launched on board the Airbus A321, which flies domestic and international routes. Services include calls, GPRS internet access, SMS and MMS facilities.
Eventually, the services will be implemented on their transcontinental routes serviced by the A330 aircraft.
Megafon is one of Russia’s three major phone services provider with 52 million active subscribers. According to Megafon’s estimates, at least 20 percent of passengers on the Aeroflot will be using the onboard mobile services by 2014.
