US carrier American Airlines is to begin offering alcoholic drinks at a discounted price as part of its “5@5 happy hour” promotion.
From December 1, passengers flying domestic, Canadian, Caribbean and Mexican services with American Airlines, American Eagle and AmericanConnection can enjoy $5 drinks on flights departing between 1700 and 1759, a saving of $1 on beer and $2 on spirits and wine.
Rob Friedman, AA's vice president, marketing, said the promotion was the airline’s “small way of saying thank you” to its passengers.
“We know travellers have many options for air travel and the 5@5 happy hour enhances the travel experience for our customers while adding an element of fun onboard during the holiday travel season,” he said.
