UPDATE 0930 January 7: major UK airports now open

7 Jan 2010 by Mark Caswell

All of the UK's major airports have now reopened, but are subject to continued delays and cancellations, and rail services continue to be affected by icy conditions.

Gatwick has reopened following yesterday's disruption, although the BBC is reporting 136 cancellations (a mixture of departures and arrivals) at the airport today, many of these being Easyjet services.

London's Luton, Stansted, Heathrow and City airports are all open, along with Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Edinburgh and Glasgow. However they are all warning of delays, and advise passengers to check with the relevant airline before travelling to the airport.

Rail services throughout the UK have been affected by icy conditions overnight - more details can be found online here, or by calling +44 (0)845 301 7641.
