JetBlue has launched its latest transatlantic route, with daily seasonal flights between New York JFK and Edinburgh.

The route represents the carrier’s fifth transatlantic destination, joining Amsterdam, London, Paris and the airline’s recently launched summer seasonal service to Dublin.

Flights depart JFK at 2112, arriving into Edinburgh at 0930 the following day, with the return leg leaving the Scottish capital at 1230 and landing back into New York at 1506.

The route – which is being operated by JetBlue’s A321neo aircraft with 16 Mint Suites and 144 economy seats – is going head to head with Delta’s seasonal service on the JFK-Edinburgh route.

As well as the seasonal services to Dublin and Edinburgh, the carrier also currently operates year-round flights from Boston and New York JFK to both Gatwick and Heathrow.

However, as recently discussed on our forum JetBlue is suspending flights to Gatwick for the coming winter season, as well as cutting the frequency of its flights from JFK to Paris CDG.

Commenting on the route launch John Lamont, UK Government Minister for Scotland, said:

“Our relationship with the US is a special one. We welcome hundreds of thousands of visitors to Scotland and the wider UK from North America every year and it’s also our top export market.

“This new direct JetBlue route from Edinburgh to New York City will really help strengthen links between our two great countries.

“Just last month, I walked down Sixth Avenue with other representatives from the UK Government as part of the annual Tartan Day celebrations in Manhattan, promoting our most important exports – whisky, energy and financial services, and our rich culture.

“This flight route will make it easier for visitors from the US to come and see for themselves what a uniquely attractive destination we have here, while also easing travel for Scottish visitors wanting to explore the Big Apple and beyond.”
