IHG Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to open the first European property under its Holiday Inn & Suites brand.

Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will be housed within a new mixed use development in the city’s XIV district, directly above the Puskas Ferenc Stadion metro station and transport hub, and next to Puskas Arena and Papp Laszlo events hall.

The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2026, and will feature a total of 170 keys, of which 25 will be long-stay suites with kitchenettes, dining area and sofa bed. Other facilities will include the brand’s signature Open Lobby, as well as a restaurant, lobby bar, meeting room and fitness centre.

Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale will join the existing InterContinental Budapest, Holiday Inn Budapest – Budaors, Crown Plaza Budapest, and Vignette Collection Verno House Budapest, as well as the forthcoming Kimpton Budapest.

The introduction of the Holiday Inn & Suites offering in Europe follows the unveiling of a raft of new extended stay brands in the last 12 months, including Marriott’s StudioRes, Hilton’s LivSmart Studios, Hyatt Studios and Echo Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham.

Commenting on the news Mrs Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said:

“We’re delighted to have signed Holiday Inn & Suites Budapest Centrale – an agreement that brings our first ‘& Suites’ offer to Europe for our Holiday Inn brand, offering a longer-stay option in the heart of the capital.

“The hotel will be located in a very popular area of Budapest and will provide guests with the perfect base from which to enjoy everything the Hungarian capital has to offer.

“It has been a pleasure to collaborate with our partners Chain Bridge Ventures Kft and Mogotel Hotel Group throughout the development process, and we look forward to turning our collective visions into reality and welcoming guests at the hotel in the second part of 2026.”
