The Grand Brighton hotel is set to auction furniture from its guest bedrooms, ahead of a planned refurbishment project early next year.

As previously reported, the iconic seafront property has recently been acquired by Fattal Hotel Group, owner of the NYX and Leonardo brands.

Refurbishment works will begin in January 2024, and the hotel has partnered with hospitality auctioneers Pro Auction to offer various items of furniture for sale “at a fraction of the cost”.

Listed items include dressing and writing tables, Spoonback chairs, sofa beds, lamps, mirrors, drapes, cabinets and headboards.

The first phase of the auction will take place on 19 December, with subsequent sales happening every five weeks from March 2024.

Interested parties can register for the chance to bid here.

The Grand Brighton was built in 1864, and featured the first lift to be installed in the UK outside of London.

The hotel was the scene of an IRA bomb in August 1984 on the eve of the Conservative Party conference, and in recent times has been operated by the De Vere Group, before being sold to Wittington Investments and subsequently Fattal Hotel Group.

Commenting on the news Simon Rose, Managing Director of Pro Auction, said:

“We are thrilled to offer our customers the chance to own a part of The Grand Brighton’s opulence. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire furniture from one of the city’s most iconic hotels.”

Last year London’s The Dorchester auctioned off thousands of items as part of its phased renovation project, and in 2021 The Westbury auctioned off furniture and fittings ahead of its own renovation project.
