British Airways has announced a new Avios partnership with World Duty Free (WDF).
Executive Club members can now collect Avios when shopping at WDF shops at London Heathrow airport, providing they also sign up to WDF’s Red by Dulfry loyalty programme and enter their Executive Club details in the scheme’s app.
Customers will then earn one Avios per £1 spent at the airport, as well as a bonus of 250 Avios on their first purchase, when scanning the QR code within the Red by Dulfry app.
Avios will be awarded within 72 hours of eligible purchases, and BA said that “savvy shoppers can also use their British Airways American Express card to pay for their purchase, collecting even more Avios”.
Note that according to this page on BA’s website members can also collect Avios “at participating stores operated by Dufry at Heathrow, Barcelona, Madrid and more airports in Spain”.
The page also states that “Certain products or product categories, such as Tobacco or Alcohol, may be excluded and you won’t be able to collect Avios when you buy them”.
Finally note that a maximum of 3,000 Avios can be earned per transaction, and there is a limit of two transactions per day and 30 per month.
Commenting on the news Colm Lacy, British Airways’ chief commercial officer, said:
“We know how much collecting Avios makes a difference to our customers’ travels, so we continue to find new ways to make collecting it easier than ever.
“With World Duty Free’s expansive presence at Heathrow, there’ll be plenty of opportunity for Members to collect Avios, bringing them one step closer to their next flight, holiday or experience.”
The Heathrow Rewards programme also offers members ten points for every £10 spent at the airport’s shops, including WDF stores. These points can be converted into Avios at a rate of 250 points for 250 Avios.
Business Traveller could not see anything in the terms and conditions for the Red by Dulfry partnership to say that the two offers could not be used in conjunction, so readers should present both the Red by Dulfry QR code and their Heathrow Rewards card when making purchases.
