Lufthansa has outlined plans for its superjumbo aircraft for summer 2024.
The German flag carrier says it will double the number of A380 destinations from Munich next summer, with a total of five routes featuring the double decker aircraft.
The A380 will return to Boston, LA and New York JFK, as well as flying from Munich to Delhi and Washington DC for the first time.
As we reported in April. Lufthansa is set to roster the A380 onto its Bangkok route from 29 October, to help accommodate demand during the peak winter season in Thailand.
The airline placed its entire fleet of 14 A380s into storage following the onset of Covid-19, and subsequently put six of the double decker aircraft up for sale.
In June 2022 Lufthansa announced it would bring an undeclared number of its superjumbos back into service as travel demand returned following the lifting of Covid restrictions, and the first of the airline’s A380s was reactivated in January this year.
Six superjumbos will be stationed at Munich airport next summer, and Lufthansa recently confirmed that this will rise to eight A380s from 2025.
