The Peninsula Hotels has opened its long-awaited London property on Grosvenor Place in Belgravia.
Plans for The Peninsula London were first announced over a decade ago, with the property having been built on the site of a former 1960s office block overlooking Wellington Arch and Hyde Park Corner.
It’s a big month for luxury London hotel openings, with Raffles London at The OWO also set to be unveiled on 29 September.
Business Traveller had a preview of the 190-room Peninsula hotel back in January of this year, with features including a central courtyard designed by Enzo Enea, featuring climbing jasmine and wisteria vines as well as two 120-year-old Japanese maples.
F&B options which are already operational during a soft-opening phase include Cantonese restaurant Canton Blue, adjoining cocktail bar Little Blue, The Lobby for all day dining and afternoon tea, and The Peninsula Boutique and Café.
These will be followed by rooftop restaurant and bar Brooklands on 4 October, and further ahead the hotel’s spa and wellness centre will be unveiled in November, featuring a 25-metre indoor swimming pool.

Events spaces including The St George ballroom – which accommodates up to 450 guests and features two lifts large enough to accommodate cars – will also open in November, and four signature suites are set to be unveiled before the end of the year.
A special £1,300 introductory offer including breakfast, use of a house car, and fully flexible check-in and checkout is available for stays until 30 November, 2023.
