Design-focused serviced apartment brand Locke is set to open its first aparthotel in the French capital.

Parent company Edyn has purchased an 18th century mansion in Paris’ 5th arrondissement, close to the Sorbonne  University and the Panthéon, which it will begin to redevelop later this month with a scheduled completion date in the second half of 2024.

The redevelopment of the site will result in 1,000 sqm of social spaces comprising a winter garden, restaurant and bar under a restored glass atrium, a co-working space, coffee shop, gym and laundry facilities. The 145 studio apartments will be housed in a new building to the rear of the site and spread over seven storeys.

The Locke brand was launched in 2016, and currently has a portfolio of 12 aparthotels including locations in London, Cambridge Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

Earlier this year Edyn announced it had secured £105 million in funding to accelerate the European expansion of the brand.

Stephen McCall, CEO at Edyn, commented:

“Locke will be the first design-led lifestyle aparthotel to open in Paris, and we’re thrilled to introduce our forward-thinking brand to such an iconic city. After establishing ourselves as one of the most innovative hybrid hospitality groups in Europe, this flagship opening in Paris further extends the reach of our exciting pipeline of Locke and Cove hotels across the continent, at a time when awareness of extended stay is translating into record levels of consumer demand.”

This news comes after the group’s acquisition and redevelopment of the NH Hotel in London’s Kensington and the opening of Wunderlocke in Munich.

There are further aparthotels under development in Berlin, Zurich and Lisbon.
