Air Arabia Abu Dhabi begins flights to Tashkent

On Wednesday, December 7, low-cost carrier Air Arabia Abu Dhabi began operating direct flights to Tashkent from Abu Dhabi.

The carrier will operate twice weekly flights every Wednesday and Saturday between Abu Dhabi International and Islam Karimov Tashkent International airport.

The schedule of flights is below:

“We remain confident that the new service will serve both leisure and business travellers and will further contribute to the growth of the travel and tourism sector of both nations while providing our customers with value-for-money product and added convenience,” said Air Arabia’s group chief executive officer, Adel Al Ali.

Air Arabia Abu Dhabi started its operations in July 2020. The airline’s fleet has grown from two Airbus A320 aircraft, at launch, to eight new aircraft. It has also expanded its network to serve a total of 26 destinations from the capital Abu Dhabi, including Tashkent.

Other regional carriers have also recently announced new flights to Uzbekistan. Saudi low-cost carrier Flynas commenced direct flights between Jeddah and the Uzbek capital in September this year.

Dubai-based carrier flydubai also launched twice-weekly flights to Namangan in Uzbekistan in September. It therefore became the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights from Dubai to Uzbekistan’s  third-largest city of Namangan.

Meanwhile major hospitality groups are also establishing themselves in Uzbekistan. Deutsche Hospitality has entered into a franchise agreement with Valor Hospitality and Globus Hotels to open its first property in Uzbekistan next year. The IntercityHotel Tashkent located in the country’s capital will open in Q1 2023.

IHG Hotels and Resorts also plans to debut its Intercontinental brand in Uzbekistan’s capital in the first quarter of next year. The newly built Intercontinental Tashkent will be located in the Trilliant Business Park Development Complex and include 216 rooms, including 40 suites.
