IHG Hotels and Resorts plans to debut its Intercontinental brand in Uzbekistan’s capital later this year.

The newly built Intercontinental Tashkent will be located in the Trilliant Business Park Development Complex and include 216 rooms, including 40 suites.

The 94m-high hotel will be the first example of a LEED Gold certified project in the country and will include the provision of electric charging points for cars, sustainable landscaping, and initiatives to minimise its environmental impact.

Guests will be able to enjoy fire-grilled steaks, sushi and shellfish at Ember; central Asian cuisine at all-day dining space No’mad; and coffee and sharing plates at the lounge Chach, which also has a patisserie.

Meanwhile the Ember bar will include a landscaped garden with a whisky library, cocktails and panoramic skyline views.

The hotel will also have a convention centre with over 2,500 sqm of space, and its first floor will include wellness facilities such as a 150 sqm swimming pool, a split-level gym and a large roof terrace and pool bar.

Commenting on the new signings Willemijn Geels, VP Development, Europe at IHG Hotels and Resorts, said:

“I am delighted to be announcing the introduction of the InterContinental brand to a new growth market with our valued partner UzTur Investment and Development (Trilliant). The project has been thoughtfully considered at every stage, from its embodiment of the InterContinental brand’s modern luxury philosophy to its reflection of IHG’s ambitions to shape the future of responsible travel.  InterContinental Tashkent is the perfect example of how we intend to focus on targeted European growth in 2022, bringing our market-leading brands to new and inviting destinations.”

The Intercontinental brand is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and counts over 200 properties in its portfolio.
