Melia Hotels International has announced plans to open two hotels in Mexico next year.

The Spanish hotel group will open its first Gran Melia in Mexico, and a new Me by Melia property in Guadalajara.

The 180-room Gran Melia Rivera Nayarit will be located 70km from Puerto Vallarta on the Pacific coastline.

Meanwhile, Me Guadalajara will comprise 152 rooms and suites, a sky pool and rooftop area along with various dining experiences.

Gabriel Escarrer, executive vice president and CEO of Melia Hotels International, commented:

“The addition of these two hotels is a major boost to the international growth of our luxury portfolio, which we will continue to grow in key destinations around the world. Gran Melia’s debut in a country with so much potential and an appetite for luxury hotels such as Mexico, is a significant milestone, and I am positive that it will be a resounding success.”

The hotel group currently has seven hotels in operation in the region, with another three hotels in the pipeline.
