French family-run group Barrière has opened its first hotel in the US, with an address in New York’s Tribeca neighbourhood.

The 97-room Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York is located at 456 Greenwich Street and features Art Deco-inspired interiors by Martin Brudnizki. The lavender-centric design blends “the modern industrialism of Tribeca and the elegant classism of Paris”.

The hotel features 97 guest rooms and suites, including an expansive two-storey presidential suite on the 7th and 8th floors of the hotel. Rooms and suites include Art Deco-inspired furniture, quilted headboards, European style chandeliers and bespoke toile de jouy wallpaper designed by Schumacher Hospitality.

Dining venues at the property include an outpost of the well-known French brasserie Fouquet’s, with a menu curated by chef Pierre Gagnaire, signature red décor and celebrity portraits taken by Harcourt Studio displayed on its walls.

The ground floor is home to vegetarian café/restaurant Par Ici, which has woven cane bistro chairs, potted palm trees and café-style tables, along with a menu featuring fresh, seasonal and organic ingredients .

Finally, hotel bar Titsou is located between Fouquet’s restaurant and reception and is named after the nickname given to the hotel group’s founder Lucien Barrière by his daughter. Hidden behind a bookcase door, the speakeasy-style bar’s interiors include a cosy décor, dimmed lighting, rich drapes on the windows and tented ceilings.

The hotel also has a spa with treatments by French brand Biologique Recherche, a fitness centre by gym brand Dogpound, a screening room in the basement which can be used for film premières and private events, and two large meeting rooms which can be combined to create a banquet hall.

Dominique Desseigne, chairman and CEO of Groupe Barrière, commented on the opening:

“The opening of Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s New York is a massive achievement for Groupe Barriere and our teams.

“I am proud to see our iconic and symbolic brand Fouquet’s cross the Atlantic and look forward to continuing to share our French art de vivre.”

The hotel is a joint venture between Groupe Barrière and Caspi Development.

Groupe Barrière was founded in 1912 and operates luxury properties including Le Carl Gustaf in St Barts, Le Majestic in Cannes, brasserie Fouquet’s Paris and the Palace Les Neiges in Courchevel.
