Marriott has opened the first hotel under its select service Courtyard brand in the South West of England.
Courtyard by Marriott Exeter Sandy Park is situated next to Sandy Park – a conference and events centre and home to the Exeter Chiefs rugby union club.
The 250-room property features artwork, figurines and carpet design inspired by its rugby neighbours, with facilities including the top floor restaurant The View with central bar and chef’s table.
Other dining options include the ground floor all-day-dining Kitchen and Bar, and The Match Day Bar – which as the name suggests is open on match days only.

The hotel itself also has three meeting and events spaces, as well as a 24-hour fitness centre and a car park with electric-vehicle charging ports.
Marriott recently opened a new-build Courtyard hotel within walking distance of London City airport, and has announced plans to revamp the brand in North America, with hundreds of hotels set to undergo renovations to suit the “next-gen traveller”.
Commenting on the Exeter opening Kirsty Holburd, general manager, said:
“We are thrilled to open this new Courtyard by Marriott in the UK, joining an existing portfolio of 12 hotels.
“Exeter is an amazing destination and whether you are in the city for business, pleasure or to watch a match, the hotel will provide all you need for a worthwhile visit.”
