Nobu Hospitality has announced plans to open its first hotel in Greece, with a property set to open in spring 2022 in Santorini.

Nobu Hotel and Restaurant Santorini will be located on the northeast coast of the island, featuring panoramic views of the Aegean Sea from its clifftop location in Imerovigli.

The property will feature the signature Nobu restaurant, a full-service spa, fitness facility, dual-level infinity pool, and five pool villas.

It will be located a ten-minute drive from the coastal town of Oia and 20 minutes from Santorini International airport. According to the brand, the hotel is also along the Oia-Fira hiking trail.

Trevor Horwell, CEO of Nobu Hospitality, commented:

“We are very excited to be coming to Santorini and to work with the local community on this exciting project. Santorini is one of the most highly regarded destinations in the world with its rare beauty, famed for its distinctive cuisine, whitewashed architecture set with a backdrop of steep cliffs, and dramatic sunsets lighting the sea and sky. We look forward to inviting locals and international travellers alike to experience the Nobu lifestyle in this special destination.”

The brand has entered a long-term management agreement with Monte Rock International (MRI) for the property.

Nobu Hospitality was founded by chef Nobu Matsuhisa, actor Robert De Niro and director Meir Teper, and currently comprises 13 hotels in its portfolio. Last year the group opened hotels in Chicago and Warsaw, and plans to add further properties in destinations including Rome, Hamburg, Marrakech and Tel Aviv.

Business Traveller recently reviewed the Nobu Hotel London Portman Square, which opened in May 2021 after several delays due to the pandemic.
