Emirates has done it again.

Like the carrier’s previous ad, the latest one also features skydiver Nicole Smith-Ludvik. But on this occasion an Emirates A380 circles Dubai’s Burj Khalifa.

Nicole Smith-Ludvik is filmed standing at the pinnacle of the world’s tallest building, which in turn is circled by a special liveried A380 promoting Expo 2020 Dubai.

Sir Tim Clark, president of Emirates, says “Now at the halfway mark of its six-month run, the excitement and momentum around Expo 2020 Dubai remains strong.”

The ad in question was filmed on the October 13 and 14 last year, and appeared as though it had been shot effortlessly.

In truth producing the short ad involved in-depth planning and meticulous execution, as this behind the scenes footage shows.

The flypast involved the A380 flying at 2,700 feet, the exact height of Burj Khalifa. The average cruising speed of an A380 is 480 knots but to make the video it was just 145 knots.

In total the A380 circled Burj Khalifa 11 times for the right selection of shots.

Dubai airspace was blocked during the filming which was conducted outside peak hours for air traffic control.

Expo 2020 Dubai runs until March 31, 2022.
