Air France launches amenity kit made from 93 per cent recycled material

Air France has launched new eco-friendly business class and premium economy amenity kits, as part of the carrier’s “everyday actions to reduce the use of single-use plastic on board its flights whenever possible”.

The new kits are made from 93 per cent recycled material, and feature sustainable elements including:

  • A toothbrush and pen made from cornstarch
  • Ear plugs packaged in kraft paper rather than plastic
  • A tamper evident seal rather than plastic packaging around the kit

The carrier also said that “headsets are systematically cleaned and disinfected, allowing Air France to eliminate single-use headphone protectors and their packaging offered previously”.

Business class kits continue to include a sleep mask, socks, toothpaste and Clarins cosmetics, while premium economy kits include a sleep mask and socks.

Air France says that the kits have been designed “as a genuine gift” to be used again after the flight – the “sober and elegant” business class bag comes in navy blue and grey versions and features the company’s historic winged seahorse emblem, while the “sporty” premium economy kits feature the Air France accent in either red or blue.

This week Air France added a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) levy to all tickets departing France, following the introduction of new French regulations.
