Scottish brewery and pub chain Brewdog opens its first hotel in England this week, with the unveiling of the Doghouse Manchester.

The 18-room property is located on Fountain Street close to the city’s Northern Quarter, and features a rooftop garden, and a bar with 30 taps of craft beer.

Guests get a free beer on arrival and complimentary passes to a local gym, and rooms feature in-shower beer fridges, beer taps, Brewdog-stocked mini bars, bluetooth-compatible music systems, a guitar and record player, and a vinyl selection from Piccadilly Records celebrating local Manchester artists.

Dubbed a “carbon negative hotel”, the property has a living wall of 26,000 plants, and guests can enjoy free Brompton bike hire, as well as “the reward of free beer for reusing your room towels”.

Commenting on the opening Brewdog’s co-founder James Watt, said:

“Doghouse Manchester marks a new era for the craft beer revolution. In the last ten years we’ve turned the craft beer scene on its head and are once again demonstrating the power of beer. As always, our army of Punks fuels every mission and the Doghouse is just a small part of the epic journey we’re making together.

“From welcome pints of Punk, to in-shower beer fridges; The Doghouse is our gift to the passionate and dedicated army of beer fans that have supported us every step of the way. We are nothing without our community and this hotel celebrates that… and where better to do it than in one of the UK’s greatest cities?

“With our Doghouse hotels, we want to inspire a new kind of hospitality experience, combining our biggest passions: travel and incredible beer – with sustainability at its core.”

Brewdog opened its first Doghouse hotel in Columbus, Ohio in 2018, and also has a smaller Brewdog Kennels property above one of its bars in Aberdeen.

Earlier this year the group announced plans to open its first hotel in the Scottish capital Edinburgh.
