Hilton has opened its latest property in the Texan state capital of Austin, with the unveiling of the Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol District.

The 214-room hotel is situated between the Texas Capital Corridor and the University of Texas, within walking distance of 6th Street in the city’s downtown.

Rooms feature 55-inch Smart TVs, mini fridges, coffee makers and free wifi, with decor paying homage to Austin’s live-music scene including artwork made from vintage posters from the Austin City Limits Music Festival.

Facilities include Analog bar and restaurant in the main lobby area, with a covered outdoor patio, as well as a fitness centre with yoga corner, and 17th floor rooftop events space with views of the University of Texas, Austin Hill Country, and the state capitol.

Hilton lists 40 properties in the Austin area, including eight hotels under the Garden Inn brand.

Commenting on the opening Michael Coolidge, chief investment and development officer for developer HRI, said:

“We’re thrilled to open the Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol District in the heart of the city. Austin is a thriving hub of art and culture.

“We wanted to reflect that throughout the entire property, from the creative food and beverage offerings, to the eclectic local art programme, to the vibrant energy of the 17th floor rooftop deck.

“The hotel embodies the distinct Austin personality of this dynamic destination, while staying true to the welcoming service and amenities of the trusted Hilton Garden Inn brand.”
