Radisson Hotel Group has announced plans to open its 16th hotel in South Africa.
Radisson Hotel Middelburg is set to open at the end of 2023 in Middelburg in the Mpumalanga Province, a town with a large mining and manufacturing industry.
The new opening will help the group reach its aim for 150 hotels in operation and under development across Africa within the next five years. The group recently opened its second Radisson Red Hotel in Africa, located in Johannesburg’s Rosebank district.
The new-build hotel will be located just off the N4, one of South Africa’s national roads, with access to larger cities such as Pretoria and Johannesburg. It will also be within walking distance of the Middelburg Mall, 90 minutes from Johannesburg OR Tambo International airport, and just over two hours from Kruger Mpumalanga International airport in Nelspruit.
The hotel will have 150 rooms, a fitness facility, swimming pool and pool terrace, as well as a restaurant and bar, lobby lounge and pool bar. There will also be 2,300 sqm of meetings and events space, which includes eight meeting rooms and boardrooms.
A large convention centre adjacent to the hotel is also currently under construction and is slated to open at the same time as the property.
