Lufthansa Group has announced that it will extend its flight change fee waiver into 2021 “in view of the exceptional circumstances” of Covid-19.

Passengers booked on the group’s airlines, which include Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines and Eurowings, will be able to rebook flights worldwide free-of-charge until February 28, 2021.

This applies to all existing as well as new bookings on short, medium and long-haul routes. The offer is regardless of the fare type, and also extends to cancelled flights.

Additional charges will be only be applied if the passenger chooses to upgrade their ticket to a higher travel class or if they rebook to a different destination.

The group removed rebooking fees back in March, and initially extended the offer until the end of 2020.

Lufthansa Group also operated its first coronavirus-free flight last month as part of its new testing programme for selected services between Munich and Hamburg.

Carriers including Singapore Airlines are also offering complimentary rebooking due to the ongoing nature of the Covid-19 pandemic.
