Aer Lingus is set to launch transatlantic flights from Manchester in summer 2021 after securing over 1,500 slots at the airport.
According to Paxex.aero, the airline applied for three A321LR and one A330 aircraft to be based at the UK’s third busiest airport, but did not divulge which long-haul destinations it is planning to fly to.
This news comes after the United States Department of Transportation (DOT) tentatively approved the carrier to join the Oneworld transatlantic joint venture.
The Joint Business Agreement began in 2010 with AA, BA and Iberia, before Finnair joined in 2013. An application was made for Aer Lingus to be added in December 2018.
The Irish carrier also released its summer 2021 flight schedule last month, with direct flights to 12 North American cities including New York, Florida, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, and Toronto.
The airline is currently offering a discount on flights to North America, with fares starting from €159 one way. The offer is valid for travel between March 1, 2021, and May 31, 2021.
