Intercontinental Hotels Group has launched its loyalty partnership with Mr and Mrs Smith, which will allow IHG Rewards members to earn and redeem points at over 400 new properties.
Business Traveller reported on the new partnership in September last year, and IHG said today that “the first selection” of Mr and Mrs Smith hotels are now available to book by IHG Rewards members, with the rest expected to go live by the end of December.
IHG said that the partnership “more than doubles the number of luxury and lifestyle hotels which members can choose from”, including 11 new destinations where the group is not currently present – Barbados, Belize, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Croatia, Iceland, Sweden, Morocco, Mozambique, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
Highlighted Mr and Mrs Smith hotels include Thyme in the Cotswolds (pictured above), Caldera House in Wyoming (pictured below), and Oltrarno Splendid in Florence.
IHG Rewards members will receive ‘Smith Extras’ including room upgrades where available, and Elite members will benefit from bonus points (100 per cent for Spire Elite, 50 per cent for Platinum Elite and 10 per cent for Gold Elite).
Intercontinental Ambassadors, Royal Ambassadors and Kimpton Inner Circle members will also receive a GoldSmith welcome gift on arrival.
Commenting on the launch of the partnership Claire Bennett, chief marketing officer, IHG, said:
“We’re all dreaming about when we can start to explore the world again and make new memories whether that’s a trip to immerse ourselves in the exhilarating, or a restorative stay where every whim is taken care of.
“That dream just got bigger for our IHG Rewards members, with an incredible array of hotels and destinations to add to their bucket list. A loyalty programme isn’t just about the points – it’s about access to extraordinary experiences. This partnership does both.
“Mr and Mrs Smith is exactly the right partner for us – they too are hotel lovers who shaped the industry. Together our portfolio of luxury and lifestyle hotels now stretches from Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spa, Regent Hotels and Resorts, Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants and Hotel Indigo through to some of the special independent and small boutique hotels in the world. We look forward to helping IHG Rewards members write their next travel stories.”
