Amsterdam Schiphol airport has added three new ‘Sanitising Service’ points allowing customers to disinfect personal belongings.
The technology – which uses UV-C light – has been installed at Schiphol Plaza, in Lounge 2, and between Arrival Halls 3 and 4, allowing visitors, arriving, departing and transferring passengers to use the points.
The airport said that travellers can use the service to disinfect items such as phones, passports and keys, and a sanitising host “will be present on a regular basis to welcome and assist users”.

Each service point has hand disinfection facilities, as well as hand cream, moist wipes to clean items, and UV-C light technology. Schiphol said that the hand gel has been made of Dutch tulip bulbs “that are too small for cultivation”.
The new facilities are part of wider measures to protect and reassure customers, including a total of 500 hand sanitisers throughout the airport. More information on Schiphol’s Covid-19 measures can be seen here.
Earlier this month the airport announced plans to open a Covid-19 testing centre in its Arrival Hall 3 for travellers arriving from “high-risk” areas.
