Hong Kong-based Harilela Group’s new hotel, The Hari Hong Kong, is set to open its doors by the end of 2020.
“The decision to open The Hari Hong Kong after a year of protests and the pandemic represents a vote of confidence in Hong Kong’s future as a city,” said chairman and CEO of Harilela Hotels Aron Harilela in a press release.
“I believe that Hong Kong will bounce back, we have foundations that you just can’t take away,” he added.
Located in Wan Chai, the brand-new hotel comprises 210 guest rooms including three signature rooftop suites designed by Tara Bernerd, the founder and CEO of Tara Bernerd and Partners, an international interior architecture and design practice based in London.
The Hari Hong Kong “will serve as the community’s living room” with a variety of social spaces including a lobby lounge for guests, Zoku; a Japanese restaurant and terrace bar, and Lucciola; an Italian restaurant.
Zoku, which means clan in Japanese according to the hotel, will have a menu of Japanese favourites like robata grilled dishes, tempura and sushi. Split into a formal dining area with angled booth seating, bar lounge seating and a terrace bar, the hotel says the “restaurant’s palette of pink shades brilliantly counter khaki velvet banquettes, leathers, patterned fabrics and sculptural furniture”.
Italian restaurant Lucciola will offer regional classics. Lucciola is “defined by a bold palette of ambers and green where timber-lined walls are contrasted by one long gallery wall finished in Tadelakt polished plaster,” reads a statement from the hotel.
“The hotel represents a homecoming to the place I’ve always called home. Beyond a perfect night’s stay, The Hari Hong Kong aims to foster a deeper appreciation for the neighbourhood and city – it will be the best way for locals to get reacquainted with Hong Kong and for discerning travellers who want to do more than scratch the surface of the city,” said Harilela.
The Hari Hong Kong is the second hotel to open under the The Hari brand. The first hotel, The Hari London opened in August 2016.
The Harilela Group was established in 1959 and is wholly owned by the Harilela family. The Harilela Group is the parent company of Harilela Hotels which owns 15 properties across Hong Kong, China, Asia, Europe, and the US.
