Hyatt will debut its Regency brand in Doha next month, with the reflagging of a property owned by Qatar Airways subsidiary Dhiafatina Hotels.
Previously operating as the Oryx Rotana Hotel, the property will reopen as the Hyatt Regency Oryx Doha on September 15. It will be the third Hyatt-branded hotel in Qatar, joining the Park Hyatt Doha and Grand Hyatt Doha Hotel and Villas.
The 400-room property is located close to Hamad International airport, and features three restaurants, a jazz club, a fitness and wellness centre with pool, sauna and spa bath, a Regency Club lounge, and 1,000 sqm of events space including two ballrooms.
Dhiafatina Hotels currently owns a handful of properties including the Sheraton Skyline Hotel at London’s Heathrow Airport, the Novotel Edinburgh Park, and the Sheraton Melbourne.
Last year Qatar Airways group CEO Akbar al Baker told Business Traveller that there were plans to increase this to 50 hotels in destinations which the Gulf carrier flies to.
Commenting on the Hyatt rebranding Philippe Anric, director of operations Dhiafatina Hotels said:
“We are delighted to work with Hyatt on the first Hyatt Regency hotel in Qatar, a global brand with the calibre of offerings suited for this market. The Hyatt Regency brand perfectly aligns with both the business and leisure culture of the dynamic city of Doha and we look forward to providing an exceptional hospitality experience.”
