It was only natural that Air France would follow the lead set by partner carrier KLM.
Air France is now saying that the wearing of face masks both on boarding and onboard all its flights will be mandatory from May 11.
It says those passengers who have already booked flights will be notified through the regular communication channels such as email, text or Airfrance.com
Unlike Lufthansa, there is no indication that Air France will retain a limited supply of face masks onboard to cope with an emergency situation.
Air France says the cabin air is renewed every three minutes. It says the recycling on board is equipped with HEPA filters identical to those used in hospitals.
