South Korea has signed open-skies agreements with Singapore and Brunei, according to the country’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT).

The agreement will allow an unlimited number of flights between Korea and the two city-states.

The agreement with Singapore will lift frequency restrictions for direct flights between the two countries and enable airlines to launch services from any South Korean city to Singapore.

Furthermore, the agreement with Brunei lifts previous restrictions on the number of frequencies, aircraft types, and the cities that could be served.

The two parties also agreed to allow as many as four weekly flights to or via a third country. Examples would be Brunei-China-South Korea or Brunei-South Korea-USA.

The news was originally reported by FlightGlobal and a MOLIT spokesperson confirmed the details of that story to Business Traveller Asia-Pacific. MOLIT has published Korean-language press releases about the agreements on its website, but said it has no plan to issue English translations.
