Business and first class passengers travelling with Singapore Airlines will get to enjoy Japanese ramen on selected flights next month.

The airline is collaborating with Singaporean restaurant Ramen Keisuke, which was founded by celebrity chef Keisuke Takeda.

The dishes will be offered in business class on selected flights on the airline’s Japan routes for a six month period. The routes include Haneda, Narita and Osaka.

The carrier’s online ‘Book the Cook’ service, which lets passengers choose from a selection of meals that aren’t available on the inflight menu, will also offer the dishes to both first class and business class customers on all routes, but on selected flights departing Singapore. ‘Book the Cook’ will feature the Keisuke Tonkotsu Ramen from October to December this year, and the Keisuke Miso Ramen from January to March 2020.

Travellers can look forward to four Ramen Keisuke speciality dishes on rotation for six months:

  • Keisuke Tonkotsu Ramen, which features a creamy pork broth with sliced pork, cloud ear fungus and spring onion.
  • Keisuke Lobster Ramen (shown below), which features a rich lobster broth with sliced chicken, bamboo shoot, cloud ear fungus, leek and yuzu.
  • Keisuke Miso Ramen, which features a creamy miso flavoured pork broth with sliced pork, cloud ear fungus and spring onion.
  • Keisuke Niboshi Ramen, which features a smoky dried sardine and pork broth with sliced pork, fish cake, bamboo shoot and spring onion.

Singapore’s flag carrier says that it carried out many rounds of testing and simulation over a period of six months in both Japan and Singapore to ensure that the original and authentic tastes of the ramen dishes are retained in the high-altitude conditions of an in-flight environment.

Earlier this month, SIA partnered with Como Shambhala to launch a new health-focused inflight menu.
