Members of loyalty programme Hilton Honors can now earn points when they use ride-hailing app Lyft.
In what Hilton called a “first for the hospitality industry,” later this year it will also be possible to redeem Honors points for Lyft credits.
Hilton Honors and Lyft accounts can be linked here, after which points will automatically be earned with the former when using the latter.
Three points will be earned for every dollar spent on Lyft rides, and two points per dollar on shared rides, up to a total of US$10,000 spent on the app.
“Today marks day one of this first-of-its-kind partnership,” said Mark Weinstein, Hilton’s head of customer engagement, loyalty and partnerships.
“We look forward to working with Lyft and finding even more ways to evolve the partnership, offering greater flexibility and more useful, relevant ways to engage with our members when they’re traveling and in their everyday lives at home.”
Hilton said that 90 per cent of its hotels in the US and Canada are located in areas that Lyft operates.
