Hilton has launched a new partnership with location technology company Foursquare, to provide users of the Hilton Honors app with location-based recommendations including restaurants and activities close to their hotel.

The entries will be provided by “Hilton local experts”, and will include photos, menu recommendations, best times to visit, etc.

Hilton says that the service – akin to online concierge – differs from other location-based recommendations tools, which use artificial intelligence to find relevant suggestions.

Users are able to “favourite” options in order to create an in-app itinerary.

The service will a launch on September 12 in 28 markets including New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, Los Angeles, London and Rome, covering 1,000 hotels. There are plans to expand it further in the future.

The launch of Hilton Explore follows the group’s recent plans to roll out its Connected Room technology which is also accessed via the Hilton Honors app.
