A growing development near San Jose International Airport is the intended home of a new Marriott-branded hotel.

The San Jose Mercury News reports that the hotel would be in the mixed-use Coleman Highline complex, which has been a magnet for high-tech companies, including Roku, a maker of digital media players. The proposed site is adjacent to Avaya Stadium, a football pitch that is home to Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes.

The Coleman Highland development includes office space, retail, restaurants, and hotels on Coleman Avenue, just south of the airport. Planners envision the Marriott hotel to be five storeys high, and to have 170 to 175 rooms.

“The big driver for this hotel is the San Jose airport, in addition to the tech companies that will be next to it,” said Dharmesh Patel, executive managing director of hotels with Colliers International, a commercial real estate brokerage. “You also have a lot of development happening in that corridor. It is now and will continue to be an area of interest for hotel operators.”

No branding information or opening date for the hotel has yet been announced.
