Melia Hotels International is to add a third property to its London portfolio, joining the existing Melia White House and Me London.

The current Rydges Kensington London is located on Gloucester Road close to the Underground station of the same name (with Piccadilly line links to Heathrow airport), and will initially be rebranded as London Kensington Hotel managed by Meliá Hotels International from December.

The hotel will then be renovated and “adapted to the Melia Hotels and Resorts brand standards” in the first quarter of 2019, following which it become known as the Melia London Kensington Hotel.

The 81-room property features a restaurant, bar, meeting rooms and wellness area, and Melia says that the renovation works will focus on “the transformation of the lobby to create dining space inspired by Spanish cuisine and make the dining experience the social heart of the hotel”.

The rebranding was announced at this week’s World Travel Market in London, where Melia also announced plans for a third property in Tanzania.

Melia Arusha is set to open in April 2019, and will offer 171 rooms, a swimming pool, spa and rooftop restaurant.

The city of Arusha is located close to Kilimanjaro International Airport, the gateway to Tanzania’s major attractions including Serengeti National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro.
