Melia Hotels International has announced the latest UK property under its growing Innside brand.

The 200-room Innside Liverpool will be located on the site of the current Post and Echo Building on Old Hall Street, as part of a mixed use development also offering retail and office space.

The development will be situated close to the Princes Dock area of the city, where other hotels including The Malmaison Liverpool and Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre are located.

The hotel is scheduled to open in 2019, and will feature “a spectacular rooftop restaurant”, as well as “all the food and beverage, fitness and meeting space attributes of the brand”.

According to Melia, Innside properties offer “multifunctional lobbies where to enjoy the most unexpected encounters, creative meeting spaces, 24/7 exercise classes, endless wifi and relaxing wellness areas”.

The group opened its first UK Innside hotel in 2015 in Manchester (for a Tried and Tested review click here), and has a third property under development in Newcastle. Melia also operates two London hotels  – ME London and the Melia White House.

The Innside brand was acquired by the group (then known as Sol Melia) in 2007, and has recently seen rapid expansion, moving from eight to 40 properties in the last five years.

Commenting on the news Gabriel Escarrer, vice chairman and CEO of Meliá Hotels International said:

“Of all of our brands, Innside by Meliá is the one that has had the highest growth over the last five years, at the same time becoming increasingly international thanks to its customer value proposition and high profitability.

“That is also the reason it is attracting investors and hotel owners all over the world. In particular, we are very confident that the Innside Liverpool will be an attractive new option for the city, and we feel very comfortable with the partnership with Trinity Mirror plc. We share values with them such as our focus on innovation and excellence.”
